You absolutely can not get an aluminum rougher that removes more material faster. I have tried a few other high end aluminum roughers in my Tormach 1100 and 440. In these machines I'm seeing big improvements compared to other non-corncob styled bits and no other roughers come close to TAS roughers in my 1100 or my 440. I recommend a 1\4in for the 440 and a 3\8in in the 1100.

BEST ALUMINUM ROUGHING END MILL I CAN FIND!

IF YOU NEED TO ROUGH ALUMINUM, THIS IS THE BEST ENDMILL I HAVE FOUND IN THE LOWER HORSE POWER MACHINES (SUB 7 HP) BUT I HAVE NOT USED IT IN ANYTHING MORE SO I CANT SAY, THIS IS A STANDARD TOOL IN MY MACHINE!

New to CNC. This tool moves aluminum with no effect. I have multiple sizes and backups now.

Very happy with them

Ran this on 2 different mills. One a 5k spindle and the other a newer 10K. Ran out of horsepower on the smaller older mill. But was able to ramp in at 20degrees at 50ipm at 5k RPM with just barely slowing it down. Ran a 1/2" DOC with a .10" stepover at 200ipm (the max the machine could do)and it ripped right along (although it did slow the spindle). On the 10k machine, it pulled out of the ER chuck a little on the first part and ended up facing some Mitee bite Talon clamps about 10 thou at 300ipm and 10k. After this we had to back off a little on the feeds, but it still handled a 0.75" doc, .175" stepover at 10k and 250ipm doing some HSM roughing. It would peg the Loadmeter between 75-100% at times. But we were still able to ramp at 20 degrees and 100ipm. I was told to try to break it, but I like it too much to want to do that to it. Overall, these are well worth the price. We cut out a predrill op off a regular part we do as well as dramatically increased the stepover. In the end it saved us quite a bit of cycle time. I am impressed and am waiting for the bigger sizes to come out.
